![]() He was a past Board Member for Good Shepard Hospital in Allentown and he and his wife were supporters of Kids' Sanctuary in West Palm Beach. Until his passing, he was the President of Palm Beach Food and Wine Society. He a member and past President of the Lehigh Valley Economic Development Corporation (LVEDC). Fink was a former executive committee member and President of the Compressed Gas Association (CGA), from which he was honored with a Lifetime Service Award. He thereafter resided primarily in West Palm Beach, while spending summers in Avalon, New Jersey, with his children and grandchildren. ![]() Fink and his wife, Madeline, began to split their time between the Lehigh Valley, Pennsylvania, and West Palm Beach, Florida. Fink continually pursued additional business opportunities and acquisitions, including: Consolidated Precision Controls, Inc., Quality Cryogenics, Inc., CVI Control Valves and Medical Gas Management, Inc. a Lehigh Valley based company, that manufactured cryogenic products for the industrial gas industry. For over thirty-five years, he was the principal owner, Chairman and CEO of Acme Cryogenics, Inc. Mike would arrive at family get-togethers with his signature packaging-tape-reinforced paper bag chock full of his specialties: salsa, banana bread, baked beans. He was resourceful, practical, and frugal. His skill for cultivating vegetables would inevitably result in an abundance of produce that would find its way to the front stoops and backdoors of neighbors and friends. ![]() In the summers, you could usually find Mike in his garden, carefully tending to his beloved tomato, pepper, and cucumber plants. When his health began to deteriorate in 2004, Mike retired.įollowing retirement, Mike often spent time with his beloved dog, Yoo-da, fishing or hanging out at the river or sharing his gift for gab with friends at the American Legion. Mike cared deeply for the fellow Veterans he helped and often received praise for his ability to put his patients first. His duties included working with various suppliers and manufacturers, filling prescriptions, and ordering prosthetics. In 1981, Mike began work at the Minneapolis VA Hospital as a steward and pharmacy technician. Despite the emotional and psychological wounds he endured, Mike would remain a caring and generous brother, uncle, friend, and coworker. His experiences changed him as a person and would influence the trajectory of his life and health for years to come. He became an avionics mechanic and served in Vietnam with the 1st Infantry Division, known as “Big Red One.” Like many veterans of the Vietnam War, Mike rarely spoke of his time abroad. During that time, Mike grew very close to his brother and a lifelong friendship would be cemented.Īfter graduating from Roosevelt High School in 1971, Mike volunteered for the Army along with his friend, Dave. As a young man, Mike would also be a frequent visitor to his brother Doug’s farm, shearing sheep, tinkering on equipment, and helping out wherever he could. Mike and his siblings grew up a stone’s throw from the Mississippi River where he spent much of his free time, fishing and swimming.
